Unnamed single white male birth, born in Rappahannock Co., VA to Clinton B. Haddox, farmer of in this county, & Sarah D. Haddox his wife, on 15 November 1868. (Register of Births :55)

 

The below statement was found in the papers of L.K. Haddox Sothoron, grandmother of WHS*.  The Bethel Academy was in Warrenton, VA.  The date of the statement fits best with Horace B. Haddox, who subsequently attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  Mrs. S.D. Haddox was his mother, Sarah Dorothy Smith Haddox.




Horace Bolivar Haddox graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1893.  (Alumni Records, University of Maryland School of Medicine).

The marriage of Edwin Longhorne Yates (born 1/5/1903) to Dorothy Smith Haddox (born 5/5/1908), daughter of Dr. Horace B. Haddox & Mary Lee Waters Haddox, on 20 June 1930. They had no children. Edwin is a graduate of Dartmouth College; as of this writing he was working as a research economist for the Chamber of Commerce. (Omohyndro* :372)


** Death


Dr. Horace B. Haddox died Monday night of a heart attack in Gaithersburg. Funeral to be at chapel in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, Montgomery Co.. Rev. Millard Minnick, rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Rockville, will officiate. Burial will be at Monocacy Cemetery. (Newspaper clipping from effects of Linnia K. Sothoron, Reported 1930.02.27)


- Dr. Horace B. Haddox, 62. one of Montgomery county's leading physician's, died suddenly Monday night of heart disease.

He was a native of Rappahannock county. Virginia, and had practiced his profession in Montgomery county about thirty five years, a few months at Rockville, three years at Silver Spring and the remainder of the time at Gaithersburg. He was a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society and of the Masonic fraternity.

- Funeral services will be held at 11 a. in., today, at the chapel at Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, where burial will take place.

- He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Lee Haddox, a daughter of the late Dr. Charles H. Waters, of Montgomery county and Washington; two daughters, Mrs. D. Horace B. Haddox died in Gaithersburg, Montgomery Co., MD on 24 February 1930 at 11 pm.  He was a married white male Physician, born 10 January 1867 in Va. to Clinton B. Haddox & Dorothy Smith, both also born in Va.  Had resided at place of death for 30 years.  Information provided by Mrs. H. B. Haddox of the same address.  Cause of death was chronic myocarditis (sudden dilitation of heart) of 3 years duration.  Certificate was signed by Stanley W. Barber, M.D. of Gaithersburg, MD on 27 Feb 1930; he had attended he deceased on his day of death.  Burial was at Beallsville on 27 Feb, 1930, with E.C.
